We tell the truth about every field
What we publish is what's on the planning record โ every field links to its real planning reference. If we've got a field wrong, tell us and we'll put it right.
About Us Why we do this
We’re a passionate network of campaigners, naturalists and neighbours, united by one mission — keeping our fields green. We began with neighbours whose last remaining local fields were under threat. Every person, every pace, every beast: the meadow is yours too.
Where we began — Three Rivers — is 76% green belt: the countryside that wraps the villages of southern Hertfordshire. These fields are not empty plots. They are habitats, carbon sinks that help slow climate change, and the places where communities gather, play and breathe.
That green belt is under sustained pressure, and it is rarely one scheme at a time. New homes, a data centre and new junctions land on the same small area, and the pressure compounds — water in a district already short of it, roads already carrying more than they were built for, schools already stretched.
Around Abbots Langley alone, a hyperscale data centre has already been approved on green belt, and 192 homes are approved at Woodside Road. The draft Local Plan proposes thousands more green-belt homes around small villages — with the largest single site immediately behind Abbots Road. The council’s own assessments raise the same questions we do.
Save Our Fields began with neighbours whose last remaining local fields were under threat of development. We are building the walk field by field — and every time someone sends us a meadow they love, Rusty gives it a proper look. This is a national issue that starts in the shire. If you know a field that deserves better, tell us.
The meadow belongs to all of us: every walker, runner, dawdler, and every creature that calls it home. Whoever you are, you’re welcome here.
Get the latest on the consultation, the examination and what happens next — straight from the campaign.

"Have we got something wrong? Missed a field, or found one that's been and gone? Drop us a line โ I've stood here a thousand years and I still can't see everything at once."
Trust is earned one honest answer at a time. Here's what we commit to — in plain English, from day one.
What we publish is what's on the planning record โ every field links to its real planning reference. If we've got a field wrong, tell us and we'll put it right.
Suggest a field, share a meadow, write to us โ none of it needs a sign-up.
Anything you send is read, answered, then auto-deleted โ 30 days for messages, 12 months for bug reports.
Your details aren't on any list and aren't handed to anyone. We only email you to reply to what you sent.
No advertising, no tracking networks, no Google or AI clouds โ and the footer switch turns the tiny anonymous analytics off.
A real email, a live Field Status page, and a bug bounty โ if we're down or wrong, we say so plainly.

"These aren't the sort of promises that come with an asterisk and a lawyer. If I break one, I'll say so โ and then I'll fetch the matches myself."
Every day we re-run the checks that keep us honest — the same six promises, verified live. Sometimes we fall behind, but we're trying to keep up.
Know a field that deserves a walk? Send it to Rusty — the more the merrier.
